To apply for a passport renewal To apply for a U.S. passport renewal you must be able to submit your most recent 10-year adult U.S. passport, which must be undamaged and issued within the past 15 years. Child passports cannot be renewed.

Passport Renewal Eligibility Questions

My most recent U.S. passport book/card is in my possession and I can submit it with this application.

I was at least 16 years old when my most recent U.S. passport book/card was issued.

My most recent U.S. passport book/card was issued less than 15 years ago.

The U.S. passport book/card being renewed has NOT sustained any mutilation, damage, or been reported lost or stolen.

My U.S. passport was valid for the full 10 years and not shortened because of damage, loss, or rule violations.

My name is the same now as it was in my most recent issued passport book/card.

OR
My name has changed by marriage or court order and I can submit proper certified documentation to reflect the name change (e.g. certified copy of a marriage certificate or court order).
