Proof of Travel
Documentation required to verify your upcoming travel plans.
For expedited passport processing, you must provide confirmed proof of travel within 14 days of your application date. If you require a foreign visa, the travel window extends to 30 days. Accepted forms of proof include a plane ticket confirmation, a business travel letter, or an employment verification letter.
Plane Ticket or Flight Confirmation
You may submit a copy of your flight itinerary, printed plane ticket, e-ticket confirmation, or any official booking confirmation from an airline or travel agency as proof of travel. The document should clearly show your name, destination, and departure date.
Driving Plans (Mexico or Canada)
If you plan to travel by car to Mexico or Canada, you must write a signed statement addressed to the U.S. Department of State Philadelphia Passport Office. The statement should include your full legal name, destination country, planned date of travel, border crossing, means of transportation, and reason for the trip. You can use the format below:

Business Letter
A business travel letter should be printed on official company letterhead and include the applicant's full name, destination country, business purpose, and specific travel dates. The letter must be signed by an authorized representative of the company.

Employment Letter
An employment verification letter should be printed on official company letterhead and include the employee's full name, the date the passport is required by, and a company contact name and phone number for verification purposes. This letter serves as confirmation that the travel is required for employment.
